Before Brooklyn's neighborhoods underwent the dramatic changes of recent decades, Wendy spent years walking its streets with a camera, documenting the neighborhoods, architecture, bridges, industrial waterfronts, and everyday moments that defined the borough.

 

These photographs, made in the late 1980s and early 1990s, have become an unexpected visual record of a Brooklyn that has changed dramatically over the decades. Many of the places captured in these images have disappeared or been transformed, preserving moments that can never be photographed again.

 

This exhibition is an invitation to slow down, explore, and experience Brooklyn through the eyes of someone who simply loved wandering its streets with a camera.

Wendy Richmond is a documentary photographer whose work explores history, memory, and transformation. For more than three decades, she has documented places before they disappeared or changed, creating visual stories that preserve moments in time for future generations.
